Purpose The Engineering Technician assists engineers in preparing for testing as well as collection of test data to prepare for the customer.
Essential Functions*
Performs set-up, testing, fabrication and supporting calculations and may conduct moderate analysis.
Compiles and organizes technical data.
Testing – Operation and maintenance of data acquisition systems; test preparation, setup, tear down, and general support
Documentation – Collection and organization of test data; maintenance and correction of test procedures
Equipment Maintenance – Coordination of general schedule; inspection and maintenance of all equipment
Plans activities within specific guidelines to meet deadlines.

Create accurate project reports
Maintain property equipment in good condition
Document, report, and maintain test data and procedures properly
Provide mechanical/electrical support in testing vehicles and components
Complete customer support in a timely, error-free and competitive manner
Assemble or construct simple parts or equipment
Operate equipment after training
Train others in high-level mechanical or electrical skills
Perform non-standardized assignments
Assist in the planning of projects
Write reports and analyze data
Follow safety procedures; wear protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
Support TRC Inc.’s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts
Qualifications
High school diploma is required
Prior laboratory technician experience is a plus
10+ years of related experience; or 8+ years’ experience with two-year degree
Prior automotive technician or electrical experience preferred
Valid driver’s license
Willing to travel for up to two weeks at a time
Proficient with computer software associated with customer needs
Willing to work overtime on short notice
Excellent communication skills including interacting with customers
Working conditions
May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees and above 95 degrees
May be exposed to inclement weather
Some travel is required
Physical requirements
Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Capable of positioning one’s self into bending, stretching, climbing, or awkward positions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
Ability to enter work times into a computer
Able to speak and hear through a hand-held radio
